The trailing letters in a Casio model number generally identify a market or distribution reference rather than a functional difference. "JR" indicates the Japanese-market reference.

What the Japanese reference does give you is Japanese-market provenance and documentation, plus the exact reference many collectors want for consistency. Warranty coverage varies by seller and country, so confirm the retailer's terms rather than assuming a Japanese warranty card is serviceable everywhere.

Is It a Limited Edition?

The accurate description: a special Pokémon 30th Anniversary collaboration with limited market availability.

Casio promoted the watch through its collaboration and limited-release channels, and Casio's Japanese product page now carries a notice that sales through the Casio online store have ended. Supply was clearly finite and demand was high.
