Description
SEIKO 5 Sports SNXS Series SBSA255 Automatic Men’s Watch
The SEIKO 5 Sports SBSA255 brings the heritage of the classic SNXS design into the modern 5 Sports collection. Developed around the concept of EDC—Everyday Carry—it combines a compact stainless-steel case, a glossy black dial and the practical day-date functionality of the automatic Caliber 4R36.
Classic SNXS Design for Everyday Wear
The SNXS series evolves a familiar SEIKO sports-watch design that has been appreciated around the world. Its flowing case profile retains the rounded central shape historically known within SEIKO’s development team as “hebitama,” while the crown is positioned at four o’clock to preserve the smooth silhouette.
The lugs curve downward to follow the wrist, and the case combines brushed and polished surfaces for a refined appearance. A mirror-polished bezel emphasizes the continuous line running from the case sides to the lugs.
Glossy Black Dial with an Orange Seconds Hand
The SBSA255 is distinguished by its glossy black dial and contrasting orange seconds hand. The orange accent draws inspiration from SEIKO 5 Sports watches produced during the 1970s, adding a recognizable sporting detail to the otherwise restrained design.
Eleven applied bar indexes create metallic reflections around the dial. The hour and minute hands have precisely shaped upper surfaces, while LumiBrite on the hands and indexes supports visibility in low-light conditions.
Mechanical Caliber 4R36
The watch is powered by SEIKO Caliber 4R36, a mechanical movement offering automatic winding together with a manual-winding mechanism. When fully wound, it provides an approximately 41-hour power reserve.
Caliber 4R36 operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 24 jewels and includes a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. Its stated accuracy is +45 to −35 seconds per day when worn on the wrist within the specified temperature range.
Practical Bilingual Day and Date Display
A day and date display is positioned at three o’clock. The Japanese domestic SBSA255 uses a bilingual day wheel that supports Japanese and English indications, providing a practical distinction from certain overseas configurations.
Compact Stainless-Steel Construction
The stainless-steel case measures 37.4 mm in width, 44.7 mm in length and 12.5 mm in thickness. Its compact dimensions preserve the characteristic proportions of the SNXS design while offering a substantial feel suitable for everyday wear.
A curved Hardlex crystal complements the rounded case profile. The see-through screw case back provides a view of the mechanical movement, while 10-bar enhanced water resistance and magnetic resistance support practical daily use.
Newly Developed Stainless-Steel Bracelet
The stainless-steel bracelet was developed to balance comfortable articulation with a reassuring weight. Its rounded, three-dimensional links create changing highlights and shadows, combining a modern finish with the character of classic SEIKO sports watches.
The bracelet is secured by a push-button three-fold clasp. It measures 18 mm between the lugs and accommodates wrists up to approximately 205 mm.
