Description
SEIKO PROSPEX 1965 Heritage SBDC195 Automatic Diver’s Watch
The SEIKO PROSPEX SBDC195 carries the design heritage of Seiko’s original 1965 diver’s watch into a modern, highly capable mechanical timepiece. This Japanese domestic reference combines a blue dial and navy-blue bezel with a compact 40.0 mm stainless-steel case, professional 300 m water resistance and the three-day Caliber 6R55.
Released as part of the regular PROSPEX collection, the SBDC195 is distributed in Japan through SEIKO Global Brand Core Shops. It is an exclusive retail-channel model rather than a limited or individually numbered edition.

1965 Heritage Design in Blue
The SBDC195 draws inspiration from the landmark diver’s watch introduced by Seiko in 1965. Its blue dial is paired with a navy-blue rotating bezel, creating a distinctive maritime color combination while retaining the restrained profile of the historic design.
The date window is positioned between four and five o’clock. This arrangement leaves room for luminous markers at all twelve hour positions, producing a more symmetrical dial and supporting visibility in dark environments.
Three-Day Mechanical Caliber 6R55
Inside the watch is SEIKO Caliber 6R55, a mechanical movement offering automatic winding together with a manual-winding mechanism. When fully wound, it delivers an approximately 72-hour power reserve, allowing the watch to continue running for about three days.
The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 24 jewels and provides a stop-seconds function for more precise time setting. Its stated accuracy is +25 to −15 seconds per day when worn on the wrist within the specified temperature range.
300 m Diver’s-Watch Performance
The SBDC195 is rated for 300 m air-diving water resistance. Its diving equipment includes a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and a screw case back. The stainless-steel bezel incorporates an aluminum insert, while the diving scale is laser engraved to improve long-term durability.
LumiBrite is applied to the hands, hour markers and bezel, supporting underwater and low-light legibility. The watch also provides magnetic resistance rated at 4,800 A/m.
Compact Case and Newly Developed Bracelet
Despite its enhanced water resistance, the case measures a wearable 40.0 mm in diameter, 46.4 mm from lug to lug and 13.0 mm in thickness. The case and bracelet feature SEIKO’s DiaShield surface treatment, developed to help protect their appearance from everyday scratches.
The stainless-steel bracelet uses shorter links designed to follow the curve of the wrist. It is secured by a push-button three-fold clasp with a secure lock and diver’s extension mechanism. The distance between the lugs is 20 mm, and the bracelet accommodates wrists up to approximately 195 mm.
