SEIKO PROSPEX Diver Scuba SBDC173
The SEIKO PROSPEX SBDC173 is a Japanese Domestic Market mechanical diver’s watch that reinterprets the design of one of SEIKO’s earliest professional diving watches. Its compact profile, black dial with gold-tone accents and five-row stainless steel bracelet create a distinctive balance of functional dive-watch construction and refined everyday styling.
Heritage-Inspired Black Dial
The black dial is accented with gold-tone details for a warm, classic appearance. Its highly visible hands and hour markers are arranged around a complete set of 12 indexes, while the date display is positioned between four and five o’clock to minimize interference with the hour markers.
LumiBrite is applied to the hands, indexes and bezel for visibility in dark conditions. The unidirectional rotating bezel provides the functional elapsed-time display expected from a mechanical diver’s watch.
Automatic Caliber 6R35
The SBDC173 is powered by SEIKO’s Caliber 6R35, a mechanical automatic movement that can also be wound manually. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 24 jewels and provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
SEIKO specifies an accuracy range of +25 to -15 seconds per day when the watch is worn on the wrist at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. The movement also includes a stop-seconds mechanism and a date display.
Slim Diver’s Case and Five-Row Bracelet
The stainless steel case measures 41.0 mm across, 46.9 mm from top to bottom and 12.3 mm thick. Its relatively slim profile and compact proportions are complemented by a curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface.
DiaShield protects the stainless steel case, while the flexible five-row bracelet and compact clasp are designed to provide a comfortable fit. The clasp incorporates a double-lock mechanism and a push-button diver’s extension.
200 m Air-Diving Water Resistance
The SBDC173 provides 200 m air-diving water resistance. Its diving-oriented construction includes a screw-down crown, screw case back, unidirectional rotating bezel and luminous hands, indexes and bezel markings.
