The SEIKO Prospex Speedtimer HBC004J is a mechanical sports watch inspired by the solid forms, functional instruments and nostalgic interiors of neo-classic cars. It combines a blue-grey dial, orange accents, an internal countdown ring and an embossed black leather strap with the three-day performance of SEIKO Calibre 6R55.
Neo-Classic Car-Inspired Design
The HBC004J expresses the character of neo-classic cars from the 1970s through the 2000s. Its blue-grey dial, solid stainless-steel case and highly legible hour markers create a functional instrument-like appearance, while orange details on the seconds hand and countdown scale provide a distinctive motorsport accent.
Internal Countdown Ring
A crown positioned at 4 o’clock rotates the internal dial ring, allowing the countdown scale to be aligned for measuring remaining time. The system takes inspiration from motorsport applications such as monitoring the time remaining before a rally start or the target completion time for service and pit work. It can also be used for everyday countdown timing.
Automatic Calibre 6R55
The watch is powered by SEIKO Calibre 6R55, an automatic mechanical movement that can also be wound manually. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, contains 24 jewels and provides approximately 72 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Stop-Seconds and Date Display
Calibre 6R55 includes a stop-seconds function for more precise time setting and a practical date display. Its specified accuracy is +25 to -15 seconds per day under normal temperature conditions.
Compact Stainless-Steel Case
The stainless-steel case measures 44.5 mm in length, 39.5 mm in width and 12.0 mm in thickness. DiaShield surface coating improves resistance to everyday scratches, while the compact proportions provide a balanced fit despite the watch’s robust 20-bar water resistance.
Curved Sapphire Crystal
The dial is protected by a curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. The sapphire crystal offers excellent scratch resistance, while the anti-reflective treatment helps reduce reflections and maintain clear visibility of the dial and countdown scale.
Embossed Leather Strap
The black cow-leather strap features an embossed surface inspired by classic car interiors. The leather is sourced from a tannery certified by the Leather Working Group, and a push-button three-fold clasp combines the traditional appearance of leather with convenient fastening.
Lumibrite and 20-Bar Water Resistance
Lumibrite is applied to the hands and hour markers to support visibility in low-light conditions. The watch also provides magnetic resistance, a screw case back and enhanced water resistance for daily use at 20 bar.
